I've decided to break my French only rule and branch out to Italian

Single vineyard Barolos from the vineyards of Bussia, Brunate, Cannubi. There are many producers. Most don't suck.

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino from Soldera or Validcava

Gaja Single Vineyard Barbarescos from Sori Tilden and Sori San Lorenzo (no longer DOCG Barbaresco though)

Montevertine "Le Pergola Torte"

Quintarelli Riserva Amarone.

It doesn't get any better than these guys. Not cheap but they are the best of the best.

I work for two different restaurants and on a slow night, either one will go through 15 - 25 bottles of liquor and wine. On a busy night it can be up to 50 or more. I asked my boss and he said the people that pick up their beer bottles don't recycle liquor bottles. Is there any place that will recycle liquor and wine bottles?

Yes. They are glass therefore can be recycled. Bring them to the recycling center. My local recycling center will pay for glass, too (I don't know by the kilo or lb).

I brought a bottle of a very nice, small production wine as a gift to a dinner once, and the host immediately chilled it on ice with every intention to use it for the sangria. I succeeded in keeping my mouth shut, but what would you do to save your gift from a similar fate?

Give a gift and be happy they enjoyed it. Or if you really want to - attatch a handwritten tag to the bottle with serving instructions, food pairings, etc. as encouragement for what you think the best use would be.

I had a wine called TEJ (pronounced tay) at an Ethiopian restaurant in Washington, DC while on vacation. I would like to puchase this wine on line. Does anyone know where it can be purchased?

If you live close to NY or NJ you can try calling this place:

Ethiopian wine can actually be made at home pretty easy here's a recipe:
